3 Days Trekking Tours In Thakhek

The Thakhek Loop is primarily a 400 to 450 km motorcycle or car scenic circuit through Khammouane Province in central Laos, rather than a dedicated multi-day foot-trekking route. While dedicated jungle trekking tours exist in northern Laos (such as Luang Namtha), multi-day itineraries on the Thakhek Loop combine driving/riding with short walks, cave exploration (like the 7.5 km Kong Lor underground river boat ride), viewpoint hikes (such as The Rock Viewpoint), or local village visits. Standard 3-day itineraries cover motor distances of roughly 100 to 180 km per day on wheels, with only 1 to 5 km of actual walking or hiking per day

Day 1: Thakhek to Thalang Village ( L, D)

Motoring / Driving Distance: ~105 km to 107 km (Route 12 "Cave Alley") 8:30 AM our driver and tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Thakhek.

Trekking / Walking Distance: ~1 to 3 km total (exploring cave complexes and viewpoints on foot)

Itinerary & Stops:
- Depart Thakhek heading east on Route 12.
- Stop at Elephant Cave (Xiang Luang).
- Explore Tham Nang Aen Cave (walkways, lights, and underground lake areas).
- Swim or relax at Tha Falang or Xieng Liap Cave.
- Ascend the Nakai Plateau and pass the Nam Theun 2 Dam.

- Visit historical or quirky local sites like the Ban Thabak "bomb boats" (canoes crafted from discarded Vietnam War fuel tanks).
